From Bernice Garden

It’s Farmer’s Market season throughout Arkansas, and as many people know, visiting the market is about so much more than just picking up some vegetables. It’s a time to see friends, make new ones, listen to music, and spend time with family.

As a parent, I especially love farmer’s markets because they’re a great place for my children to socialize with others and see farmer’s face to face.

Little Rock residents will have the opportunity to frequent a new market this year, the Bernice Garden Farmer’s Market. Unlike many of the other local markets, this one will be open on Sunday! Their grand opening will take place this weekend, and it’s an event you don’t want to miss.

In addition to purchasing locally grown food from area vendors, you can also enjoy live music, witness a printmaking demo from the Arkansas Society of Printmakers, and have brunch at the nearby Root Cafe. All the farmer’s will be on hand so you can learn more about their operations, the food you’re purchasing, and the importance of eating local.

Participating vendors include: Laughing Stock Farms, Dunbar Community Garden Project, Bussey-Scott Urban Garden, Little Rock Urban Farming, Goat Roper Farms, Kent Walker Artisan Cheese, LTN Woodworks (handcrafted cutting boards, cutlery and other kitchen items), and Loblolly Creamery. Pets are welcome, but they must be on a leash.

The Bernice Garden was created for community use and host numerous public and private events. All sculptures in the outdoor park were created by Arkansas artists. The Market will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. For more information, visit the event page by clicking here or call 501-617-2511.
