Craft Project: Scented Pencils
I just found a really neat craft idea that will help ease those back-to-school blues! Since the 70’s, scented pencils have been a hit with kids of all ages. Now you don’t have to pay premium prices (seriously, I have seen brand-named scented pencils for up to a dollar a piece) for these cute, giftable school supplies. For this project, all you’ll need is a large bowl, several pencils, some newspaper, and some citrus fruits (oranges, lemons or limes.) Take the newspaper and cut strips as wide as the painted part of the pencils. Wrap the newspaper around the pencil and secure with a piece of tape if necessary. Squeeze the juice of one or more fruits into your bowl of water, and simply place pencils inside the bowl, making sure to completely submerge them in the water. Leave the pencils in the water for 5-6 hours, then remove from the water and take the newspaper off. When they’re dry, your new pencils are ready for use! You may even want to use a permanent marker to label the scents on each pencil. Enjoy!
Savvy Project: Birthday Crowns

Even moms who don’t consider themselves “crafty” should be able to whip up one of these in less than an hour. Continue reading
