Have you heard about the upcoming sales tax holiday? Next weekend, August 4-5, you can shop for back to school clothes and supplies and other needed items without paying state and local tax!
According to Sylvester Smith, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, this holiday strives to help to families and small businesses still recovering from the recession. “The sales tax holiday is kind of like the day after Thanksgiving,” Smith said. “It gets people fired up and in the mood to shop, and that’s exactly what our economy needs right now. The more we can increase consumer spending at our small businesses, the more jobs we save, and the faster our economy will recover,” Smith added.
The holiday was initiated last year with great success. Every cent helps Arkansas families during these difficult economic times.
